There’s lots happening this half term at Chester Zoo. They have a host of free fun wildlife activities as part of their special Bloom events, celebrating gardens, birds and UK wildlife.

All the activities are free daily drop in sessions held in the Marquee in the Wildlife garden between 10.30am and 4pm. Join them for The Great Chester Zoo Bird Watch, Make your own bird feeder, make your own seed bombs, make your own paper book bird and special visits from the Zoo Ranger who will be telling you all about which wildlife visits the zoo at this time of year.

Liverpool Central Library 2

After an amazing redevelopment a few years ago, the building alone is worth visiting. With its beautiful space fusing old and new, it has an inspiring children’s section, a café and a well-stocked computer area complete with ipads too.

Various half term activities are on each day including, Louby Lou fun packed clown shows on Monday, Magician Barrington Powell on Tuesday, Paul Storey with puppets, magic and laughter on Wednesday, Sally Tonge with stories, music and singing on Thursday and on Friday Fran O’Boyle will be there with her around the world stories. There are multiple shows and sessions each day.

Haigh Woodland Park

Haigh Woodland Park, Wigan

From the high rope adventures to footgolf and an incredible children’s outdoor play area, this is where to head to burn off that half term holiday energy! Set in the stunning Haigh Woodland Park, there’s plenty of gorgeous woodland walks too. Top off by creating a picnic in ‘Kitchen Corner’ or enjoy a snack or delicious meal for lunch.

Museum of Science & Industry, Manchester: Steam, Sweat & Sewers

Step back in time this half term and experience the sights, sounds and smells of Victorian Manchester with the museums family friendly holiday programme. See the power of steam with their Engine Demonstrations, join the Cotton Mill Circus, create some ‘Goo in the Loo’ and light up your day with their Magic Lanterns! Plenty to keep inquisitive minds occupied!

There’s things happening at Tatton Park this half tern and they begin with S… Scarecrows, spies or secrets? Join us this February half term to seek out Sherlock and scout for sprites! Take the Garden trail through the orchard, walled garden and broad walk. Have a go at making your own scarecrow down at the Farm, where you can meet the new addition to the Tatton Park family – Ben the Billy goat. Parkland, Gardens, Restaurants & shops open 18th-26th Feb (exception: Farm Closed Monday 20th.)

The LEGO Event, Media City, Manchester

LEGO fans are in for a treat this half-term holiday as Lowry Outlet, MediaCityUK, is shipping in hundreds and thousands of LEGO® bricks to celebrate the launch of The LEGO® Batman™ Movie at its VUE Cinema! Lowry Outlet will host two weeks of free LEGO brick fun, from Saturday 11th February 2017 to Sunday 26th February 2017, including a treasure trail of life-size LEGO Brick characters featuring princesses and a smoke breathing dragon. LEGO themed activities run from 11am-4pm each day.

At the end of half term, Lowry Outlet will host its monthly Makers Market on Saturday 25th February and Sunday 26th February. In partnership with The Makers Market, the February event brings an array of quality artisan foods, drinks, award-winning craftsmen and entertainment to Lowry Outlet’s open-air Plaza!

This neighbourhood tea rooms and play café is everything a parent needs. Delicious food, proper coffee and lots of toys to keep your little ones occupied. They boast a fabulous afternoon tea too and they always have something going on for little ones whether singing, story time or craft.

Sunday Roast

The Family Sunday Roast, Camp & Furnace, Liverpool (Sunday 19th/ Sunday 26th Feb)

The coolest place to gather for a roast. Roast commences at 12pm, dinners are seated communally in The Furnace at long trestle tables whilst organic chickens and joints of sirloin, lamb or pork are dispatched from the kitchen un-carved, accompanied by the necessary cutlery for diners to divvy up according to size of appetite and/or love of yorkies, roasties and the trimmings! Follow that with homemade sharing puds and your family will have well and truly regrouped and bonded!
