Blackberry Grove, New Brighton, Wirral
Since opening their doors almost 18 months ago, Blackberry Grove in New Brighton has proved a big hit with locals and celebrity clientele alike. They’ve built their reputation as being a great establishment for Sunday Roast dinners. With their mission statement being clear, and never more so than on Sundays, these guys really do have “something for everyone”. An unusual take, Blackberry Grove’s roasts are served in ‘small plate’ family style for you to make your own dinner. Don’t let the description fool you! Choose your meat or vegan option (these change week to week) and select two veg dishes to accompany it. Add this to the crisp roast potatoes and homemade Yorkshire muffin which come as standard – then select which gravy or jus you would like to smother your perfect Sunday roast in. Vegan roasts, as well as gluten free roasts are served here – no nut roast in sight either as the kitchen is completely nut free.
There is always a choice of meats, which change weekly but regularly include oven roasted chicken, pork belly, roast beef and honey glazed ham. The big winner amongst vegans on Sundays is the marinated garlic and balsamic oven roasted Portobello mushroom. Roast Dinners are £10.95. A selection of gourmet burgers are also available on Sundays if a member of your party isn’t keen on roast dinners!
