Local Wirral independent honoured at North West’s prestigious Food & Drink Awards

Wirral’s Blackberry Grove land top award

Last night Blackberry Grove were honoured at the prestigious Cheshire Life Food & Drink Awards by winning ‘Outstanding Customer Care Award’. The Cheshire Life Food & Drink Awards are one of the most eagerly anticipated and prestigious occasions in The North West’s culinary calendar.  During the course of the year, Cheshire Life features high quality local food producers, top pubs, restaurants, hotels and the regions most talented chefs. Hundreds of pages over the year are dedicated to topics that are close to readers hearts – quality local food and drink. Last night’s event brought all of these together as the awards showcased the finest examples of hospitality on offer in and around the county.

This is a culmination of a long held dream by owner Joanna Jones, who upon receiving the award last night said, “I’m absolutely delighted to get such recognition for the team. We have a tight knit, hard working crew here and this really makes the continued efforts and hard work worthwhile.”

Blackberry Grove are based on Victoria Road in New Brighton and pride themselves on sourcing and using only local produce, which is made fresh on site every day. As well as a wide range of meat dishes, they also cater well for vegans, vegetarians and gluten free diners. Away from the chain restaurants at Marine Point, Joanna explains what her and the Blackberry Grove team are up against, “I’m from Liverpool myself and I know if people come over to New Brighton from out of town, they head straight to the Waterfront. It’s nice because it means that everyone who comes to us, does so mainly upon recommendation but it also means we have to fight that bit harder to make ourselves heard.”

Joanna has recently appointed a new 2 AA rosette award winning head chef, and is looking forward to a busy Summer, “We have a great outdoor seating area so perfect for alfresco dining. We are also close to lots of children’s activities so great for family days out so really feel like there is something for everyone here.”
