Tara’s veggie, vegan & juice bar concept for Liverpool is a lifetime ambition fulfilled says former CBBC presenter
Liverpool’s burgeoning Bold Street restaurant scene has just witnessed the opening of ‘one of the most innovative concepts in eating drinking & socialising’…not our words but those of a trusted confidante who knows the circuit inside out.
Our Kitchen, the brainchild of former CBBC presenter Tara Maguire offers quirky veggie and vegan cuisine that she believes will appeal to the staunchest meat-eaters as it will fans of the veggie & vegan scene.
Tara said: “The project began when I decided to satisfy a long-held ambition of opening the kind of restaurant that I wanted to eat out in for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Everybody around me in my network in Liverpool just seems so busy and many constantly ask me the same question…”where can I go for food that’s good for the soul?”
“Well, opening Our Kitchen is truly the realisation of my ambition to open an inclusive restaurant that feeds exactly that.
“In addition, with celebrity chef Sean Paul Redding coming from his background in feeding an A-list of celebrities in the world of film & entertainment and now leading our team, we are really excited to have him on board too!
As you step in, you immediately notice (as interiors fans) a Scandinavian-inspired backdrop with clean lines running through the length of the space.
Tara continued: “I’ve been fortunate enough to have travelled extensively which increased my determination to bring back to Liverpool what I’ve been enthralled by elsewhere. That’s both from an aesthetic and ambience perspective as well as the menus.
“I recognise the importance of down time and wanted to create a fun and relaxed environment hence the neutral colours”.. Tara also owns the thriving Your Yoga studios in nearby Wood Street, one of the catalysts for the now burgeoning holistic scene in the city.
“I also wanted to inject that fun into the menus…a mix of healthy as well as naughty so guests can choose from an extensive holistic-inspired range of nutrient-rich juices and dairy-free nut mylks and have a scotch egg with it too!”
Our Kitchen offers a 1, 2, or 3 day cleanse programme but Tara is keen to point out that “ultimately we’re an inclusive, relaxed, soulful home to enjoy vegetarian and vegan food & drink at its best. We just wanted to create a ‘third place’ for people to eat in or takeaway highly nutritious food & drink, much of which is organic, sourced locally and produced with love.”
