There’s family fun to be had this Half Term

There’s heaps of family fun on offer across the North West this half term. Here’s just a few of our favourites happening this week:

Take a spooky tour

Go behind the scenes at Chester Racecourse this Halloween for a scarily good time. Ghouls of the racecourse have risen to tell tales of legend and conduct a trick or treat hunt for hidden treasure. There will also be the opportunity to pick your own pumpkin from our Parade Ring patch.

Thursday 31st October. Tours run 11am (lunch at 12pm) and 2pm (lunch at 3pm), tickets are £15 per child and include a kid’s meal from a set choice menu.

Go Pumpkin Picking

Glorious pumpkin picking awaits at Claremont Farm this half term. Perfect place to capture some seasonal family shots for too, this insta perfect spot is pumpkin picking heaven this October. Simply weigh and pay on exit. Easy peasy. Open daily 10am-4pm

Have a Marvel-lous time at M&S Bank Arena this weekend

Super Hero action, thrills and drama will soar, smash and burst into Liverpool this autumn as Marvel Universe LIVE! makes its very first visit to the M&S Bank Arena. This all-new production by Feld Entertainment takes place in Liverpool between 31 October – 3 November 2019, and Marvel fans will be able to see Spider-Man, The Avengers and the Guardians of the Galaxy join forces with Doctor Strange, master of the mystic arts, in a race against time to recover the Wand of Watoomb before it falls into Loki’s hands.

The audience will witness cutting-edge special effects, pyrotechnics, and impressive 3D video projection mapping in this completely new thrilling adventure. With aerial stunts, martial arts and daring motorcycle skills, fans of all ages will be immersed in the Marvel universe in a show unlike anything they’ve ever seen before!

Scare Projects: Candy Cavern X Mini Madams rock up to Camp & Furnace this half term featuring two hour Halloween sessions for families. Ticket includes a host of spookylicious fun from face painting to spooky storytelling, thriller disco and even an immersive theatre show.

Out for lunch- Thymes new kids menu

One of our favourite Wirral spots, Thyme in leafy Oxton village have just launched their new Menu Enfant. This popular stylish bistro already ticks the box for parents, so now it can become your family favourite with delicious children’s eats including Mac & Cheese, Fish Goujons and even a mini roast.

Halloween movies

This October sees the return of the pop-up floating cinema at The Albert Dock… this time with a spooktacular twist! Films will screen from 24 October – 1 November for a week of your favourite Halloween movies including family favourites Hocus Pocus, Casper, Adams Family and Beetlejuice.

 There’ll also be a selection of relaxed morning screenings where guests can enjoy the experience with low lighting and volume, no trailers, as well as allowance for increased levels of movement and noise. The Dock restaurants will also be on hand each screening offering you a delicious array of front row treats, drinks and refreshments.

Wrap up for the fireworks

Two displays will take place on the Roodee on Saturday 2 November

The Lord Mayor’s Fireworks Extravaganza will take place at Chester Racecourse on Saturday 2 November 2019.

The event will begin at 5pm, when gates will open to welcome members of the public onto the racecourse. Two displays will entertain the crowds, a children’s display at 6:45pm and the main display at 7:30pm.

Capital North West & North Wales Drivetime presenter Ben Sheppard will host the evening from the commentary box, play music to the crowds throughout the evening and lead the all-important display countdowns.

Eat Spooky Icecream at Cheshire Ice Cream Farm

The Ice Cream Farm, based just outside Chester, is gearing up for a Halloween of non-stop family fun, with a line-up of spooktacular activities including; pumpkin picking, decorating, and ghoulish slime making. Plus, a limited edition ‘Twilight Zone’ black ice cream. 

From 11th – 31st October, families can get in the Halloween spirit by picking their own pumpkins straight from the pumpkin patch at The Ice Cream Farm.
